Essex St. Coming Back!

For years, officials in the city of Lawrence have been talking about returning Essex Street to two-way traffic. But all we’ve heard is talk. This past January, District “B” City Councilor Grisel Silva wrote her very first column in The Valley Patriot calling for the restoration of two-way traffic downtown and now it seems that Mayor Michael Sullivan is following suit.

This means Essex Street will finally start down the path to revitalization. Whether it is the Veterans Memorial Stadium, the new water treatment plant, or two way traffic on Essex St., Mayor Sullivan has proven that, while previous elected officials talked the talk for years to get elected and then did nothing, he is walking the walk and getting things done.
