WCAP Radio to brodcast from Lawrence
Sal Lupoli of Sal's Pizza teams up with WCAP radio

A new Relationship Between Sal Lupoli and WCAP 980AM local radio owners Clark Smidt and Sam Poulten means that once again, Lawrence has a local radio station broadcasting local news and commentary.

Lawrence hasn’t had a legal radio station broadcasting within its borders for more than a decade when the now defunct WCCM/800AM was sold by Curt Gowdy to Costa-Eagle Enterprises and moved its station to Methuen.

Sal Lupoli, President and CEO of Sal’s Pizza Retail and Wholesale Divisions, Salvatore’s Restaurants and Riverwalk Properties in Lawrence, has officially announced that he is combining forces with WCAP Merrimack Valley Radio (AM 980) to broadcast WCAP’s local programming from Salvatore’s restaurant in Lawrence. “WCAP owners Clark Smidt and Sam Poulten’s mission is to help promote the economy and quality of life in the Merrimack Valley mirroring our own corporate mission and we are pleased to work with them in doing so,” Lupoli said.

John McDonald, VP of Corporate Strategy and Communications appeared on the Paying Attention! Radio program to announce the new relationship between Sal’s and WCAP. “This is a great fit for both Sal’s and WCAP radio,” he said. “Sal and I both know that Sam and Clark are committed to promoting the good things that are happening in the Merrimack Valley and using their radio station as a vehicle for helping small local businesses. I’m confident that this will be a great working relationship for both of us,” he said.

The new relationship will entail regular live broadcasts from Salvatore’s Restaurants and Riverwalk Properties in Lawrence during special events and/or regular programming. WCAP and Sal Lupoli also announced as part of the WCAP/Sal’s Pizza partnership; the launching of the “New Official Pizza of the Merrimack Valley and the home of the $9.80 WCAPizza!”

“We are extremely excited that Sal has named a pizza after us. A 12” Pizza with double cheese and pepperoni…my favor-ite, and Everybody Gets It!” said Clark Smidt oco-owner of WCAP 980 AM.

Sal’s Pizza has corporate-owned properties in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. The business with over 35 locations has become a large retail franchise and wholesale operation serving all of New England with additional locations in California, Florida and opening soon in Virginia.
