How dare they! How dare Joseph Soucy run
against a sitting member of the board of
assessors? How dare Sandy Gerraughty run
against a sitting member of the water
commission. How dare Evan OReilly
and Daryl Barta run against each other
for an open seat on the selectboard?
Because they care! And they each feel
they can add value to our community.
Each of these daring individuals should
be praised for stepping forward and
putting their names on the ballot. What
do they stand for? Ms. Gerraughty has
served on the finance committee, and
while I for one have disagreed with her
on an issue or two or three, she would be
a stellar addition to the water board.
Mr. Soucy has served in many volunteer
capacities over the years, and has been
dubbed an energizer bunny of
determination. Ms. Barta has committed
time on the school committee and serves
on the board at Camp Leslie where her
campaign signs are in prominent display,
and is a supporter of schools and
overrides. Mr. OReilly is
home-grown Georgetown, young, popular and
intelligent. You make the choices. Your
vote counts.
Also on the ballot is a request for
approx. $2-3 per month from each
household to ensure emergency response by
our Fire Department. We have a stellar
department, and outstanding command staff
including Chief Anderson, Deputy Chiefs
Durkee and Dubois, Captains Ricker and
Bridges, and others.
Peter Wojtkuns Trail Continues
The Georgetown Club remains in the
spotlight as club owner Peter
Wojtkuns trial continues in
Lawrence Superior Court. Mr. Wojtkun
completed approximately 8 days in the
witness box. Trial resumes May 12. More
coverage and court documents to follow.
